American Investigative Services, Inc. has been in business for over 30 years, and is fully licensed and bonded in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and New Hampshire, with affiliate offices worldwide. AIS specializes in complex criminal defense investigations, high level background checks ,due diligence investigations, white collar defense,cohabitation and domestic relations investigations, asset checks,insurance claims, death claims, workers' compensation, and medical malpractice claims.
Established in 1976. American Investigative Services,Inc. was incorporated in 1976 and was sold to the present owner in May of 1983. Originally located in the SS Pierce Building in Brookline's Coolidge Corner, in 1992 the offices moved to it's present location in Washington Square where it has been successfully operated and has enjoyed a stellar reputation as being one of the worlds best investigative agencies!

Due to the sensitive nature of the field, I won't get into why I've used AIS. I will say that I found them personable and very capable. I was satisfied with the ongoing work, results, and follow up. I also felt that my sensitive information was in the hands of people who cared. Not sure how to explain that, except perhaps that I left the first experience with them feeling comfortable with a potentially very uncomfortable situation. The services of AIS are actually much broader than I'd expected, and I've returned becoming a repeat customer using them for business and personal reasons. Would definitely recommend.

I have known Jay Groob since 1993 and have used American Investigative Service since then. I will never forget Jay's assistance on our very first case together. I represented a woman who was very, very badly hurt in a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident. Unfortunately, liability was difficult as there were seemingly no witnesses and a very unfavorable police report. I had my work cut out for me, or I should say that Jay did. Jay went to the scene countless times, tracked down a witness who helped us and came up with a great idea. (Mind you, this was before google maps.) We felt that if we could show the area in a clear way then everyone would realize the driver's story was untrue and our client's version was true. We needed to show that the driver would not travel the many streets it would take to turn his car around and was instead taking an illegal U turn when he struck our client. Now for Jay's idea: get an aerial shot of the locus of the accident and the many streets the driver would have had to travel if he was telling the truth. Jay hired an airplane, dangled out from it and got a perfect aerial shot. A case which could have been lost instead settled within a year of Jay's excellent involvement. The settlement was for a huge amount of money and against one of the leading firms in Massachusetts as they represented the driver and the TV station he worked for. I can say that Jay takes on every project with imagination, fearlessness and a great demeanor. That has always been the case in the 22 years in which we've worked together. I highly, highly recommend Jay Groob. You could not do any better.
