I hired API security while I was in Columbus to help me at the Quarter Horse Congress show. They were more than happy to book my security officer, and gave me every reason imaginable that they would do a great job. However, that was not the case! Jason, who claimed to be the chief of police in Columbus, Ohio took my cash and sent me a subpar at best what they deemed to be a security officer (instead of himself). The security officer showed up 1/2 hr late, did nothing but talk on his phone, sit down in a chair at the bar or stay outside. He did not watch any of my customers or do anything Security related. I have asked for a refund repeated times but I have been told no, even though nobody showed up for the subsequent shifts that I paid upfront for. PLEASE do not hire this company! They are complete and total scam artists, liars, and horrible business people. I have been trying to resolve this for a month now trying to get a refund due to their non-performance. Had I paid for this on my credit card I would've already had a refund. But since I paid cash, they are refusing to acknowledge the fact that they did nothing on their part to earn it. I would give them zero stars, but it doesn't go any lower than one....BEWARE OF THEM!!!

API does not deserve a one-star rating. This company installed a security system at our martial arts studio in 2017 through our phone lines. In mid-2018, we had a flood from the units above and the water destroyed most of our phones. In the fall of 2019, we purchased new Verizon phones which go through the Internet. There have been no phone lines at this business since that time. In December, 2021, our Accts. Pay. Dept. received a bill for $516 for "monitoring services for 2022." Before I could notify the person in charge to refuse to pay this bill, the bill was paid. Early this spring, 2022, API sent a technician who told me, "Your phone lines are not working properly and are sending a signal to our monitoring company." That was odd, since we have not had phone lines since the fall of 2019. The owner of API, Ed Johnston, called and said that he was sending a technician to install a "cellular model" at a price. We declined and asked for a refund of the $516 paid in error. API REFUSED TO REFUND THE MONEY. Mr. Johnston subsequently has hung up on me when I called to request the refund. I researched what happened with the years 2020-2021 and discovered that the bartering company had paid for the monitoring with our points. The bartering company adjusted our account. API refused to do so. The company is deceptive at best and Mr. Johnston is rude and nasty to anyone who disagrees with him. I am the office manager of the martial arts school and I strongly advise against doing business with this company. RUN, RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
