Either this guy is the worst detective ever or he is a scam artist. I hired Joyce to follow my now ex-husband and his girlfriend on a trip they planned. He had all the information for flights, the hotel and the event they attended. I even sent him pictures of both of them. He insisted on being paid $1500 upfront sent overnight, which I did. He promised me "live" updates and pictures. In the end, I got nothing. I had to call him for updates and was told that he "lost them" in the airport and never saw them again. My ex is 6'4'' and very recognizable- it seems impossible that a seasoned detective could be so clueless? Don't hire James Joyce- he will take the money and run...

I am frustrated that I did not see the other Yelp reviews of James Joyce before hiring him for what I thought was a simple job. I had the same issues as other people ... poor communication, no updates, slow, and, ultimately, unable to fulfill my request. A few times he let me know he'd "be in touch shortly," or "will reach out to you by next week," but that never happened, I had to follow up with him. Very disappointing, as hiring him was a waste of my time and money, and I suspect he didn't actually spend any time on the search.

Do not use this person UNLESS you have detailed contract. I agree with the previous review one hundred percent. He did the same thing to me, but it was for much more than five hundred dollars. He takes advantage. There are others like us, too. I have read similar stories on other sites.

FYI, If you really need someone found PLEASE DO NOT USE this detective unless you have a detailed contract agreement. I hired him in December 2022 giving a retainer fee of $500. Now, he never provided any updates unless I inquired then after a month he requested another $500 for me, I provided pertinent information to assist with the investigation and each time we spoke he had no updates and no leads of any sorts. Finally after two months I hired another detective; give him the same information he used SOCIAL Media as well and my love one was found within a week.... I am not bitter because I am HAPPY now, However I do believe others should be aware before choosing James Joyce. I wanted to leave a review on his website but I think I'm may be blocked from doing so :( Buyer be ware!!!

So at first i thought this was a great choice with reasonable prices and i read different reviews in different sites all seem great.I spoke personally with Mr.Joyce and he assured me that in 2-3 days i would know something and i did he wasn't able to find the information i was looking for after that he said he would run another search for free just to call him back within a month I complied and we were find well this time it wasn't 2-3 days and i understand that now it was a priority since he was doing it for free might take him a wk or 2 its been 2 months i send him email as well as voice mail just wanting to be updated. If your intention was never to do it why mention and lead me to believe something that was not I would of just hired you again to run the search the freebie wasn't necessary I would of also appreciated a reply to my messages as well letting me know that you were to busy or simply that you couldn't provide the service overall I wish i went else where after all he said he could get a number for me and he didn't even do that he just ran a regular background check and i knew the stuff he provided me with because that the information i had started him out with Dont be fooled by the price pay a little more but you will know they are doing it right
