The Lycurgus Group conducts investigations, background investigations and fingerprint screenings for individual, corporate, and institutional clients. The Lycurgus Group also conducts risk assessments and provides security services. Members of the Lycurgus Group include formerly-commissioned law enforcement officers who have completed a course of instruction certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission and attorneys who have served as prosecutors and in other government positions. Members of the Lycurgus Group previously held security clearances when working for the government. Established in 2010. The name Lycurgus means, "He who brings into being the works of a wolf." Lycurgus lived in the 7th Century B.C. He was a noted lawgiver who founded most of the institutions of ancient Sparta. He believed that the happiness of a nation, like the happiness of a man, consists in the exercise of virtue, and not in power or wealth. According to legend, even in his absence, the people of Sparta obeyed his laws for 500 years. Because of his notable influence on law and society, Lycurgus was selected to be depicted in one of the twenty-three marble relief portraits of noted lawgivers over the gallery doors of the United States House of Representatives. The members of The Lyurgus Group came together because they share a mutual passion for the law and in helping increase public safety.
