I hired and prepaid this investigator for a serious case involving a death. At the outset, he was extremely responsive and outlined detailed charges for case analysis, interviews, follow-up analysis, and written transcripts. Based on the amount prepaid, he stated he would be able to "produce a complete case analysis to the DA wrapped up in a nice bow." After the initial case analysis and one interview, progress slowed significantly. When I checked in a few months later, I was told he was busy with another case but would soon be available. Two additional interviews were completed by September 12. After that, communication became inconsistent. By October, phone calls and emails were not being returned. After repeated attempts, he agreed to meet in person. I expressed concern about the lack of progress and requested a 50% refund so we could part ways. He assured me he wanted to complete the case and provided his personal cell phone number, stating he would always answer. Unfortunately, communication issues resumed. By December, I was informed that no meaningful progress had been made. Calls again went unanswered. In early January, I gave a deadline requesting communication, or I would consult an attorney. Three days after the deadline passed, I received an email stating he was terminating the agreement and that no refund would be issued. I prepaid for services that were not completed and experienced extended periods without updates or returned communication. Given the seriousness of the matter, this was deeply disappointing. I would leave ZERO stars, if possible.
