After attending college in the Northeast U.S., Jason DeWitt began working for various government agencies conducting primarily criminal investigations. Soon after, private attorneys and other business leaders began to request his services. Jason applied for and was approved for his first private detective license at the age of 23. In 1999, Jason moved his business to the San Francisco bay area. Over the last 17 years, DeWitt has handled numerous high profile cases for some of the most famous attorneys and celebrities in California, including Mark Geragos, Pat Harris, Martin Garbus, Daniel Horowitz, and other celebrity attorneys and clients. Jason also began working on large corporate cases for some of the major companies in Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Jason is often called upon by local, regional, and national media to lend his experience and expertise to current events and interesting stories.

Established in 1992. The DeWitt Detective Agency was initially formed in the northeast U.S. to serve well known attorneys and private clients. After 7 years, we moved to California in 1999. We are now called upon to handle an assortment of cases for well known attorneys, CEO's, celebrities, business owners, executives, and private clients throughout California and across the United States. We are a full-service, but small firm, and can handle any type of problem our client needs. We take pride in earning our client's trust by providing the absolute best service and fast results. Our adult daughter went missing while driving in bad weather and we were frantic to locate her. In the early stages of the investigation, a friend referred us to Jason. As a parent, having your child go missing is a nightmare and there is no playbook to consult as to how to skillfully navigate a situation such as this. Jason generously jumped in to assist us, offering wise counsel regarding how to work with law enforcement and search and rescue teams. He contacted strategic parties and advocated on our behalf, gleaning important details and relaying the information, counseled us on the questions to ask, and nudged us to be respectfully assertive at key points in the process. My sense of Jason's work style as the highest compliment is that he will leave no stone unturned, is relentless in his pursuit of facts, is extremely empathetic and is deeply generous in sharing his expertise. Jason dived into the search because he was genuinely concerned about our daughter's safety and recovery. He did not charge us. I am beyond grateful to report that our daughter was recovered unscathed after spending two nights in her car in a remote location. Jason was knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging. Jason DeWitt helped me tremendously throughout a lengthy process dealing with a violent stalker. Jason helped me set up a camera on my property, helped aid me with how to connect with the police and how/when to make police reports. He helped me serve papers to my stalker safely by hiring additional security, and accompanied me to the following lengthy court proceedings. Dewitt helped me connect with a key, hard to find witness (a bystander who had made a 911 call on my behalf) and talked to them when I was too busy with work. This witness ended up being critical to my DVRO hearings, where I ultimately succeeded in getting a DVRO in large part thanks to DeWitt Detective Agency! When my stalked later violated the DVRO Jason consulted with me on how to proceed. Jason is a really nice guy, and made the whole incredibly difficult process a lot easier and more comfortable. He checked in often, and was available to answer questions whenever I needed. Recommend highly!!

My family and I called Jason to help locate my niece who had been missing three weeks in San Francisco.We were worried sick and feared the worst.Jason worked long hours and was very determined to find her he was so dedicated to this case he really pounded the pavement and applied pressure where it needed to be and he even drove to our house in another city to meet with the family! He got my niece to call home! She is safe and we can't Thank you enough Jason. I would definately refer Jason's services to anybody.He truely is the best!!!

Private is the key word in "private investigator." People seek out private investigators because they're dealing with matters that are private. My husband and I had such a situation. I called my attorney and then filed my first police report. As I did so, I realized the police weren't going to do anything. They specialize in bodies after they're dead. That's what we wanted to prevent. What to do? Thinking at warp speed, I came up with, "What about a private investigator?" Friends have used them, mostly to catch cheating spouses, but with good results. Ever the professional, I called my lawyer for a reference to make sure I got a good one. Did he know someone reputable who did investigative work? Turned out he did. I called her and waited. Waiting is awful in such a situation. Desperate, I went on line. I usually use Yelp to get house painters and plumbers. I finally hit an entry, Dewitt Detective Agency, with very good reviews. I carefully read the page, then the attached website. There was a contact form to fill out. I did and went on searching. Seemed like seconds when I got a return email, "That seems very urgent." You betcha. I answered Jason and we began a process that seemed cut from a thriller on TV. I consider the money we spent with Jason the best and most productive we've spent. He knew how to do everything. He created and distributed targeted flyers before I'd be able to throw one together. The next morning, he called with the whereabouts of our target. That was a huge relief. He knew exactly where to search. The adventure continued after this, and Jason led us all the way. The man is not just competent, he's very nice and reassuring, which is good when you're falling apart every ten minutes. He's very level headed and pragmatic, cutting through foolish ideas and getting to the core. We're still processing this problem and I'd call Jason back for more help in a minute. It was a great experience, if a stomach churning adventure can be called great. Oh, the investigator my attorney recommended called me back after Jason had found our target. He's fast, as well as effective.

We have a serious concern about the safety of a loved one who has become estranged from us due to the influence of a controlling and manipulative partner. We hired Jason to find information that could help us reconnect with our loved one. Jason did much more than just gather facts. He took a personal interest and was genuinely concerned over the well-being of our loved one as though he was himself a member of our own family. We cannot be happier with the hard work he did that involved extensive travel and interviews with many people, including law enforcement agencies. Jason is an outstanding investigator and we cannot recommend him more highly.

I cannot express enough, my sincere gratitude for Jason DeWitt Detective Agency. I contacted a couple other agencies who showed zero interest in helping me find my missing family member. Jason immediately responded to me and showed great compassion and concern for our situation. We lost contact with our family member immediately after receiving news that she had been in a very dangerous situation. As you might imagine this was very scary, confusing and stressful. We had very little information and no clue where to start. After speaking with Jason and hearing the direction he would take, I realized there was still hope. Jason's knowledge and expertise is invaluable to say the least. He diligently worked off of the little information we had and was able to do in a week what we had been attempting to do for the last few months. He successfully located our family member and got us in contact with her. I can't tell you just how thankful we are for Jason. Even after the situation had concluded, Jason offered great advice and resources to further help us with our family member. Not only is he extremely efficient, he is incredibly kind, very responsive and really does all he can to help everyone involved in the process. A loved one of ours recently dropped off the map. We were worried because we heard that she had been mugged and then lost her job and then abruptly quit communicating with all of her friends. All of our efforts to reach her failed and we began to fear the worst. Trying to find a good detective who will act as a partner is a difficult enough task when you have all of your wits about you. But when you are upset, worried and emotional, you can't think clearly. Jason was a breath of fresh air. He helped us locate our friend and get her the help that she needed to get back on her feet. I definitely recommend him.
